Random fact, I use to work at Nordstrom. I know you’re probably thinking to yourself, “AND?!” haha, but stay with me it goes back to this coat. Anyway, I first spotted this coat back in 2016 while working there and I truly fell in love. At the time I had no idea Nordstrom even carried Free People so I was super hype about that. I looked through the entire FP section just to get a gauge of the floor (more so what I’d be using my discount on) and spotted this beauty. I fell in love immediately and just KNEW this beaut was coming home with me. Unfortunately, that excitement lasted all of 2.5 seconds once I realized the coat was in a size large. And if you wear FP then you know their pieces run huge! I was disappointed, yet hopeful because I assumed another Nordstrom would have it in stock and I would still get my hands on it. Come to find out, I was absolutely wrong! The coat was completely sold out in the entire company (as well as FP) and never came back in stock. Just my luck! Smh. After unsuccessfully searching high and low, I knew I had to get the image of this gorgeous plaid duster coat out of my head.
Fast forward to now, here I am styling my long lost love haha. I found it on sale at ASOS and fell in love all over again! The bold, plaid print is what initially drew me to this coat as you may have guessed. And it’s even more gorgeous in person! Coupled with a long line silhouette and wide lapels, this coat is nothing short of amazing. It was only right that I kept the coat the center of attention, so I went super simple underneath with an all black ensemble. I’m so happy I finally got to add this coat to my wardrobe and can’t wait to transition it to Spring.
